The FMCSA has established a program known as FMCSA SAP Program to help ensure that commercial motor vehicle (CMV) drivers are not impaired by any kind of substance. The program includes requirements for drug and alcohol testing, as well as for training and education on the dangers of substance abuse. The program also includes provisions for the treatment of drivers who are found to be impaired by substance use.
