When hiring someone, it’s easy for people to assume that merely doing a name check indicates that the prospective employee has been screened through the OIG. This assumption is incorrect as, while the GovernmentalExclusion Listis updated by the Federal Government on a monthly basis, an individual may be eligible to work at an organization one month, but not be the next month. To meet the best practice guideline established by the Office of Inspector General, you must perform monthly screenings of your entire workforce. If you do routine monitoring, you will receive immediate notification of any change(s) in the employee’s licensure status which will allow you to prevent billing for services rendered by an ineligible employee.
