American Airlines will usually accept minor name changes due to misspelling, change of a middle name, or adding an omitted last name. An overall name changes on American Airlines, however, like selling the ticket to another individual, is usually not acceptable. Tickets cannot be transferred.  

The following are instances of name changes being accepted due to the following: 

⦁ Correction of misspellings (e.g., from "Jonh" to "John")  

⦁ Insertion or deletion of a middle name or initial  

⦁ As again brought about for legal purposes (e.g., marriage or divorce, as confirmed in the documents)
