I’ve been on the lookout for a great software developer movie that genuinely captures the highs and lows of life in tech. Whether it's about coding, startup culture, hacking, or the personal journeys of developers, I’m interested in films that portray the real (or at least entertaining) side of being a developer.
I've already watched The Social Network, which I thought was a fantastic software developer movie, especially in how it dramatizes the creation of Facebook. The Imitation Game is another good one—though more historical, it definitely fits. I'm also intrigued by indie or foreign films that might fly under the radar.
What I’m not looking for are overly dramatized hacker action flicks unless they offer something insightful about the developer mindset.
So, what’s your favorite software developer movie and why? Bonus points if it includes realistic coding scenes, startup drama, or ethical dilemmas.
