Hi! I’m currently doing my Master of Information Technology at RMIT, so I can share a bit about my experience with RMIT University placements.

RMIT has a solid reputation for being career-focused and very connected with industry. A lot of the programs — especially in Engineering, IT, Design, and Business — include internship opportunities, industry projects, or work-integrated learning (WIL). These placements aren’t just optional extras; for many programs, they’re built into the curriculum.

For example, in my course, we had access to the Job Shop, which is RMIT’s dedicated career support service. They helped me polish my resume and prepare for interviews, and I eventually landed a paid internship with a local tech firm in Melbourne — which turned into a part-time role while I finish my degree.

RMIT University placements are definitely one of their strengths. That said, you do have to be proactive — attend networking events, apply early, and make use of all the university’s resources. If you do, there’s a good chance of gaining valuable industry experience before you graduate.
